Driver of ambulance dies in two-vehicle crash

SANDUSKY CO., Ohio — A woman driving an ambulance was killed in a crash in Sandusky County Thursday.

According to a release from the Ohio State Patrol, it happened at 7:21 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 197 and state Route 19 in Green Creek township.

A 2011 Ford Ambulance driven by Sandra L. Cline, 45, of Holland, Ohio, was traveling south on state Route 19. William A. Bluethmann, 48, of Broomfield Hills, Mich., was driving a 2013 Dodge Journey.

Reports state that Bluethmann failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck the ambulance in the side causing the ambulance to overturn.

Cline suffered life threatening injuries and died.

Two passengers in the ambulance also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Bluethmann suffered non life threatening injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
