Cleveland Clinic worker assaulted, robbed in church parking lot

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A female Cleveland Clinic researcher was robbed and assaulted in a leased church parking lot Tuesday morning.

According to a Cleveland Clinic spokesperson, it happened during daylight hours in the Antioch Baptist Church parking lot, 8869 Cedar Ave.

The victim was treated and released in the emergency department.

It's not known what was stolen. No details are being released about the robbery or the assault.

The Cleveland Clinic police and Cleveland police are investigating.

The spokesperson said that six incidents have happened since the beginning of the year involving Cleveland Clinic employees.

The incidents were robberies or attempted robberies and did not involve assaults.

The Cleveland Clinic released the following statement:

“Cleveland Clinic is committed to the safety and security of all patients, visitors and employees. Earlier this week, one of our employees was a victim of assault and robbery in a parking lot. Cleveland Clinic Police officers responded immediately and the situation is currently under investigation in cooperation with Cleveland Police. We encourage all those who visit our campus to be vigilant of their surroundings.”
