Police identify 16-year-old hit and killed by school bus in Norton

NORTON, Ohio -- Police have identified the Norton High School student who died after being hit by a bus Wednesday.

Kyle Richmond, 16, of Barberton, was struck around 2:45 p.m. by a Norton City School bus in the 3100 block of Greenwich Road.

Police say Richmond fell from a skate board and was hit by the bus.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.

A press release from the Norton Police Department stated:

"The entire City of Norton is devastated by this loss and expresses its support to the victim's family and the entire student body and faculty within the Norton School System."

Norton City Schools were open on Thursday and had counselors available in all buildings to talk with students.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family," according to a statement on the district's website.
