BROOK PARK, Ohio-- Area police officers spent time this weekend in a showdown with local kids, but on the basketball court.

The kids challenged the cops in basketball free-throw shooting contests.
It happened at the Brook Park Rec Center.

Police from Cleveland, Brook Park, Parma, and Fairview Park took part. Kids came from recreation centers in Brook Park, Cleveland, and Rocky River.

The event was organized by the Sea of Blue, a citizens group that supports police. The group hopes more young people see the human side of officers behind the badges.

Sea of Blue founder Mary Jo Graves said, "Our goal is to reunite police with the communities they serve. It's happening one event at a time. And we couldn't be happier. All you have to do is see the smiles on the kids' faces- 100% totally worth it."
