Ten years ago today “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray while filming an underwater documentary.
His daughter, 18-year-old Bindi Irwin, posted a beautiful tribute to him on social media.
She shared a photo on Instagram of her dad holding her up with one hand when she was a baby. Bindi wrote, “You’ll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe.”
Steve’s wife, Terri, is also remembering her husband. She tweeted out a photo that said, “Hug your dad.” Father’s Day is today in Australia.
Earlier this week, Steve’s dad, Bob, revealed a touching letter he recently found that was written by Steve for his parents.
The note, written 12 years before Steve’s death, said:
“Probably one of the most unfortunate things in a “Bloke’s Life” is that it takes over 30 years to realize how essential you have been to build my character, my ethics and, most importantly, my “HAPPINESS.” At 32, I am finally starting to figure it out, in good times and in bad– you were there.”
He also thanked them for all of their support and called them his best friends.
