SAN FRANCISCO— A former Stanford University swimmer who sexually assaulted an unconscious woman left jail Friday morning after serving half a six-month sentence that critics denounced as too lenient.

Brock Turner told authorities he plans to live with his parents in Ohio, where he must register as a sex offender for life.

Turner was released around 9 a.m.

Lawyers say the requirement will make it difficult for Turner find jobs and housing.
