CLEVELAND-- The FOX 8 I TEAM is tracking a series of early-morning police raids on Cleveland’s east side believed to be tied to recent smash and grabs of ATMs at stores and other crimes throughout northeast Ohio.
The raids involve police from Parma, Cleveland and Strongsville. At one scene in Cleveland, police even had a SWAT team from the western suburbs.
Police raided at least four homes looking for suspects and executing search warrants to gather evidence.
A source close to the case says investigators began tying crimes together, in part, after a smash and grab at a convenience store months ago in Parma.
Later on Tuesday, 74 charges were filed against 11 suspects in the smash-and-grabs. The indictment lists the crimes happening between Feb. 9, 2011 and Aug. 8, 2016 in Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark, Lake and Lorain counties.
