EAST CLEVELAND - A 12 year-old boy was run over and killed by a truck on Wednesday on a street where neighbors say cars routinely go too fast.

Ameer Mitchell died on Thursday at University Hospitals. His mother had tried to save him after the truck hit him and left the scene.

"She mangled my baby," says Navetta Clark, Ameer's mom.

East Cleveland police say the driver, Starlesha Lewis, did not stop after hitting Ameer, but did turn herself into authorities on Thursday.

Roxbury Road is a residential street with no speed limit signs, and it is really just a single, long block.

Neighbors say drivers routinely speed in front of their houses.

"They go breakneck speed," says Catrice Edgerton.

Catrice has put a sign up in her yard that reads: Drive like your kids live here.
