CLEVELAND-- The elevator is working again at a busy downtown rapid stop inside Tower City, where riders had been forced to walk up dozens of steps, the FOX 8 I-Team found.

On Monday, the I-Team exposed the problem. An elevator there kept going out of service. Many RTA passengers struggled to make it up more than 50 steps, and people in wheelchairs had to get off at other stops.

RTA had set up the stop temporarily as repair work is done on the main tracks.

A spokesperson told us the elevator would be repaired by the end of the week and that happened. RTA said a repair crew worked on the motor so that it won’t overheat and other maintenance was also done.

The temporary stop will likely be used until about Thanksgiving.
