CUYAHOGA FALLS – An Akron man has been charged following a crash last month in Cuyahoga Falls that seriously injured an officer.

Officer Ted Davis’ cruiser was struck July 23 after the suspect was fleeing from police.

Prior to the crash, the suspect allegedly called 911 and threatened to kill law enforcement officers. Police then believe the man drove his red pick-up truck to the department’s parking lot and damaged several vehicles. When he fled from the parking lot, police began looking for him, and that is when he slammed into Officer Davis’ cruiser, police said.

On Friday, Donald R. Watson Jr., 46, was charged with attempted murder, felonious assault of a law enforcement officer, and fleeing and eluding.

Watson Jr.  is currently being held at the Summit County Jail.

The incident is still being investigated and additional charges may be requested at a later time.
