Spirit Airlines expanding to Akron-Canton Airport

AKRON, Ohio -- Spirit Airlines is coming to the Akron-Canton Airport. 

According to a release from the airport, non-stop flights to and from Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Tampa will be added starting Nov. 10, 2016.

Seasonal service to Myrtle Beach will begin in April 2017.

The flights will be available for purchase Tuesday afternoon.

“This is a great day for travelers who love ultra-low fares and awesome vacation destinations,” Akron-Canton Airport president and CEO, Rick McQueen, said in the release. “We are thrilled about the five destinations Spirit has selected and can’t wait to see those cool yellow airplanes land here at CAK.“

The new flights are as followed:

Akron-Canton to/from Service Start Date Frequency
Fort Lauderdale November 10 Once daily
Orlando November 10 Once daily
Tampa November 10 3 days/week (seasonal)
Fort Myers November 11 4 days/week (seasonal)
Myrtle Beach April 27, 2017 Once daily (seasonal)
