CLEVELAND-- The FOX 8 I-Team obtained exclusive video of a man being terrorized at gunpoint on a residential street. But residents in the neighborhood crime watch say this case points to a larger problem.
The victim in this case did not make a police report. But it’s not the first time people in the same area have not followed through with police. We're talking about the area around West 90th Street near Almira Avenue in Cleveland.
In the latest case, a home security system captured a man and a woman walking down the street a little after 10 p.m. Sunday. Then a car rolled up and stopped. A group of people got out, and one aimed a gun at the man’s head and forced him to the ground.
The man was beaten before the group in the car got away.
Last month on the same block, neighborhood cameras captured a shootout between people in two vehicles. It appears no one involved in that went to police.
Activists turned over their video to police, but they also know officers can only do so much when victims of crime do not cooperate. So they’ll keep their cameras rolling, although capturing crimes on camera can’t help much when some people rely on street justice.
