Two teens arrested in deadly shooting at Sims Park anti-violence gathering

EUCLID, Ohio — Two people have been arrested in a shooting that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Euclid man and the injury of a 12-year-old male at an anti-violence vigil.

According to a release from Euclid police, the shooting happened July 17 during a resident-organized “Stop the Violence” rally.

Phillip Banks, 19, of Euclid, was killed. A 12-year-old boy was shot in the back and is still in the hospital.

Gerard Anthony Jones Jr, of Euclid, 19, faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter. A 17-year-old Cleveland male faces charges of aggravated murder.

Euclid police ask anyone with information to call detectives at 216-289-8505.
