CLEVELAND – On a tense day before the start of the Republican National Convention with officers shot and killed in Louisiana, police in Cleveland received a huge gesture of support and good will from citizens.

Members of a west side citizens crime watch group dropped off a supply of water and snacks for police working long hours helping with RNC security.

Altogether the group says it donated 2000 bottles of water and several hundred snacks such as granola bars, plus packets of flavor mix for the water.

Ron Graham said he and fellow citizens simply wanted to help the local officers and out-of-state officers working to ensure a peaceful RNC.

Others in recent days have also made donations of food and drink for officers.

In fact, we found a big pile of goodies built up outside the front door of an officer’s home on the west side, compliments of his neighbors.
