CLEVELAND, Ohio - - In order to fully appreciate the re-design of Public Square, it helps to look back over the years and see how the space has changed.

Did you know Moses Cleveland actually came up with the idea for a 'public square' in 1796?

Tony Coyne is the chairman of the Group Plan Commission and was instrumental in the 2016 new re-design.

Tony took Fox 8 News in the Morning show anchors back in time Thursday to get the full picture of Public Square -- then and now.

Planners say the newly re-designed Public Square has something for everyone.

From a wide open stretch of grass, to a tiered event venue, a restaurant and gardens that bloom all year long -- Fox 8's Kenny Crumpton visited every corner of the city's new Public Square to show us what's waiting for us on our next visit.
