Husband charged with murder in death of Mansfield woman
MANSFIELD, OH – The Richland County Sheriff has filed murder charges against the husband of a Mansfield woman who was found dead in her garage Sunday morning, June 26th.
Herman Preston, 39, was charged with murder charges that stemmed from an alleged altercation with his 36-year-old wife, Amanda. Amanda was found unresponsive in the garage of the couple’s Apple Lane home and was pronounced dead around 10:30 a.m.
Herman had called 911 earlier requesting an ambulance, saying he had been injured in a fight with his wife.
“My wife got drunk last night, and she got mad at me, and she was like, she started attacking me. She cut me. I need a rescue squad,” Preston told the dispatcher.
He also told authorities he took the knife and locked his wife in their garage, according to a recording of the call. He did not mention any injuries to his wife at the time.
An autopsy was being performed Monday morning in Cuyahoga County. Herman Preston is currently being held at the Richland County Sheriff’s Jail. The Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate this incident.
