One killed after motorcycles hit by truck in Perry Township

PERRY TOWNSHIP – One person is dead after a three-vehicle accident in Perry Township Saturday morning.

At around 9:16 a.m. on US 30, a tractor-trailer truck drove off the left side of the road near milepost 12 and hit two motorcycles that were pulled off into an emergency turnaround.

The truck driver, from Texas, wasn’t injured and police report that he was wearing a safety restraint.

Killed in the crash was Marcy Simchak, 41, of Alliance, Ohio. She was a passenger on one of the motorcycles. The driver of that motorcycle, Darryl Elliot, 50, also of Alliance was taken to the Aultman Hospital.

The two people on the other motorcycle. Joshua Elliot, 31, of Alliance and his passenger, Amanda Elliot, 29, also from Alliance were not taken to the hospital.

According to the State Highway Patrol, none of the cyclists were wearing motorcycle helmets and alcohol is not being considered a factor in the crash. It remains under investigation.
