Ron Lester, ‘Billy Bob’ actor from Varsity Blues, dies at age 45

DALLAS, TX – Ron Lester, the actor who played Billy Bob in the movie Varsity Blues has died.

TMZ reports that the 45-year-old Lester had been in a Dallas hospital for the past four months and that his health had been in a steady decline at that time. He took  a turn for the worse on Friday and passed away after being taken off life support at around 9 p.m. central time. His fiancée was with him.

He underwent a gastric bypass in 2000, losing over 300 pounds afterwards. Lester had been battling liver issues since last fall and TMZ also says that he had some kidney problems.

Lester also appeared in “Not Another Teen Movie,” “CSI:NY,”  “Popular” and “Good Burger.”
