OAKLAND, Ohio — A day before what could be the most important game in NBA history, LeBron James was pretty clear about his goal.

“I came back for a reason,” he said during pre-game press conferences Saturday. “To bring a championship to Cleveland, Northeast Ohio and all Cavaliers fans around the world. I trust the work I’ve put in.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers were down 3-1 going into Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Then James and Kyrie Irving scored 41 points and the Cavs were still in it.

James had a repeat performance in Game 6 and now the Finals are headed to Game 7 in Oakland on Sunday. Tip-off is at Oracle Arena is at 8 p.m.

The Cavs’ Game 6 win forced a Game 7 for just the third time in NBA history. And no team has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals to win.

Irving said Saturday, history will be made no matter who wins the game.

“Win or lose, for both teams,” he said. “We’re just focused on what we can control. Have to live in the moment.”

Coach Tyronn Lue said Sunday is big for the city of Cleveland.

“This is what we’re playing for,” he said. “In my short time in Cleveland, I understand what it means. This will be very big for Cleveland and Ohio.”

Though the game is in Oakland, fans in Cleveland will still be celebrating.

The Cavs will host a watch party at Quicken Loans Arena; it will be extended to Gateway Plaza after such a huge demand for tickets. Fans will be able to get into the watch party at 6:30 p.m.

In Akron, a watch party will also be held at the St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Doors there open at 7:15 p.m.

Fox 8 News will provide complete coverage of the game and the watch parties on TV and on Fox8.com.
