Elderly man killed, 3 others injured after SUV crashes into bridge

COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating a one vehicle crash that left one person dead and three others injured.

It happened on I-77 north near Swartz Road in Summit County around 1:45 a.m.

Investigators with the sheriff's office are trying to figure out exactly what happened.

A 74-year-old Elyria man was a passenger in the vehicle and died in the crash, the sheriff's office reported. His name was not released Wednesday morning.

The driver and one passenger are being treated for "critical" injuries. A third passenger is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the SUV they were driving in went off the right side of the highway and struck the Swartz Road bridge.
