Witnesses tried to save driver after fatal crash on U.S. 422 East

SOLON, Ohio -- The right lane of U.S. Route 422 eastbound is still closed after a crash that killed one man.

According to Solon police, officers responded at just before 8 a.m. to a single vehicle accident on U.S. 422 East just west of the Solon/Bainbridge line.

A male driver was traveling east when he went off the left side of the road. He re-entered the eastbound center lane, lost control and slid sideways across both lanes. The vehicle went over a guardrail and down a steep embankment.

Witnesses removed the driver and attempted CPR, but were not successful.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
