Highway reopens after truck hits median, leaks fuel

AKRON, Ohio — An accident involving a semi caused State Route 8 in Akron to be closed for several hours.

The accident happened just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A semi hit the median wall and the debris from the accident caused flat tires for several other vehicles.

State Route 8 was closed at Perkins Street but was reopened to traffic in both directions just before 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The semi was leaking fuel so a hazmat team was called to the scene.
