EUCLID, Ohio -- One person is still on the run, but police have cleared the scene at a Euclid apartment complex where an off-duty officer fired shots at a couple of armed suspects.

It happened just after midnight at the Richmond Hills Apartments on Euclid Avenue.

According to a Euclid Police sergeant, an off-duty Euclid officer was working security at the apartment complex when he smelled marijuana coming from an Escalade in the parking lot.

He approached the vehicle and fired several shots after at least one of the suspects pointed a gun at him.

It's unclear if the two suspects in the vehicle fired any shots, but Euclid Police confirmed they did recover a gun in the woods.

One of the suspects is in custody. The other got away.

The Eastside Department Group Enforcement SWAT team responded along with officers from the South Euclid and Willoughby Police Departments.
