Man sentenced for estranged wife’s murder at Canton Township nursing home

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio– The man convicted of murdering his wife outside her job at a Canton Township nursing home was sentenced on Friday.

Dragan Sekulic, 37, was found guilty of aggravated murder with a gun specification, attempted murder and felonious assault. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 14 years.

Sekulic shot and killed 37-year-old Zeljka Sekulic as she was leaving the Astoria Nursing Home on Dec. 9. Stark County Sheriff’s Deputies found Dragan Sekulic’s rental car at the Akron-Canton Airport before arresting him during a traffic stop in southern Ohio.

At the time of the murder, Dragan Sekulic was out on bond for domestic violence, felonious assault and driving under the influence for an earlier incident involving his estranged wife. No protection order was issued.

Zelika Sekulic, who worked as a nurse, was the mother of two daughters.
