TUSCARAWAS – A few kayakers were traveling down the Tuscarawas River Friday when they came across a little calf in need of some help.

Around 11 a.m., the four men were kayaking and saw the calf swimming in circles in the middle of the river.

With their kayaks and the help of their dog, P.I., they were able to corral the baby to the river bank.

P.I. was then able to herd the calf to the shoreline, but she got stuck in the mud. Raynard Packard decided to take out his phone to record the rescue. His friend Spencer Baker had to hold back P.I., who clearly wanted to help with the rescue.

Packard’s friends David Monter and Jack Fenady struggled to get the baby out of the mud, and they said her mother could be heard mooing on the other side of the hill.

Thankfully, the men were able to get the calf out of the mud and reunited with her mother.
