Lake Erie Monsters sweep Ontario, advance to Calder Cup Finals

CLEVELAND – The Lake Erie Monsters defeated the Ontario Reign in double overtime to advance to the Calder Cup Finals for the first time in franchise history.

The Monsters took an early 1-0 lead over Ontario, scoring within the first few minutes of the first period.

The second period was scoreless and Ontario tied things up 1-1 early in the third period.

The score remained tied at the end of regulation, taking Game 4 into double overtime.

The Monsters will take on the winner of the Hershey Bears vs. Toronto Marlies series. The Bears currently lead 3-0.

The schedule for the Calder Cup Finals has not been released yet.
