NORTH YORKSHIRE — Just hours after he married his wife, a man from North Yorkshire woke up to discover that she’d died in her sleep.
Daily Mail reports that Krzystof Michalowski married his partner, Mariola, 38, last week. Their two children — both under the age of four — and friends and family were there. After, they celebrated at a reception before eventually going home and going to bed.
Early the next morning, Krzystof woke up to feed their young daughter and assumed that Mariola was still asleep in the bed next to him.
“After a while I started to think something felt unnatural,” Krzystof told Daily Mail. “I tried waking her up and when I turned her over it was obvious that she had had an epileptic fit through the night.”
It’s believed passed away after that fit.
Krzystof said that Mariola had suffered from epilepsy for over 20 years.
“The wedding was the best send-off she could have,” he said. “It was a way to say goodbye to everybody.’
There’s now a fund set up to help Krzystof pay for the wedding and his wife’s funeral.
