Cleveland police officer arrested, accused of obstructing justice and tampering with evidence

CLEVELAND, Ohio– Cleveland police said an officer was arrested following an internal affairs investigation.

Valarie Thompson, 50, is accused of obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence; those are both felony offenses.

Police said the arrest is in connection with an incident that allegedly happened while Thompson was off-duty, in secondary employment.

Thompson was hired in 1994 and was most recently assigned to the property unit. She has been suspended from duty, without pay.
