Train hits, kills 14-year-old in Ashtabula County

SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP, Ohio– A 14-year-old boy was hit and killed by a train in Ashtabula County Wednesday morning.

It happened just east of the Sanborn Road railway crossing in Saybrook Township at about 9 a.m.

The Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office said the victim was walking on the gravel part of the tracks when he was struck by a train, which was going from Buffalo to Toledo.

The Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are also involved in the investigation.

The victim has been identified, according to the sheriff’s office. The coroner’s office will release his name after notifying family members.
