MENTOR, Ohio– A Painesville man is facing charges after police say he went running down the freeway while on drugs.

Ryan Swoope, 22, was running on state Route 2 near Hendricks Road at about 11:15 p.m. Friday, Mentor police said. When officers arrived, he cursed and made obscene gestures at them.

According to police, Swoope ran across three lanes and forced traffic to stop. He only listened to officers when they threatened him with a Taser.

Swoope admitted to police he took LSD and was on the freeway to “be with officers.” He was arrested, and charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of official business.

Mentor police said this incident shows just how dangerous hallucinogenic drugs can be.
