VALLEY VIEW, Ohio-- A dog shot multiple times and left for dead is getting a new lease on life.

Three-year-old Colt, a pit bull-boxer mix, was put up for adoption at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter in Valley View on Wednesday.

A good Samaritan found the dog in January on the side of an East Cleveland road. He had been shot three times in the head.

Private donations to the shelter paid for emergency surgery to repair Colt's shattered jaw and nose. His front left leg later had to be amputated.

Despite being subjected to a horrific act of cruelty, the dog is extremely affectionate and loves people.
