BEDFORD, OH - Nearly 400 athletes from 14 schools and facilities in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina Counties were on hand in Bedford Saturday morning to compete in the Northeast Ohio Special Olympics Track & Field, Cycling, and Volleyball State Qualifying Events.

Fox8's Gabe Spiegel was the master of ceremonies for the day, which began with an opening ceremony. After that, the athletes took part in 24 track and field events, volleyball,  and four cycling races.

The regional qualifying meet prepares students to compete at the Special Olympics’ state-level competition, to be held later in the year in Columbus.

Good luck to them all!
