STARK COUNTY, Ohio– A man has been charged with the murder of a woman in her home in 2009.

The Stark County sheriff served an aggravated murder warrant on Kenneth Roth. He was indicted by the Stark County Grand Jury for allegedly killing Linda Smith in her Osnaburg Township home on December 9, 2009.

Authorities say the indictment is the result of their ongoing cold-case investigation. In 2013, Stark County Sheriff George Maier worked with Ohio BCI, the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office, and other agencies, to bring the case to an indictment.

Roth, who is already serving time at the Elkton Correctional Institution on federal weapons charges, was transported back to the Stark County Jail and booked on charges of aggravated murder.
