Horrifying: 9-year-old calls police after mother, brother shot in Akron home

AKRON, Ohio--  A 9-year-old girl called police to report that her mother and brother had been shot in their home on Hartford Avenue in Akron.  It happened around 10 p.m. Sunday night.

Akron police say the little girl told them her brother was dead and her mother had been shot in the chest and was still alive.

When officers responded, they found a 48-year-old woman lying on the floor near the staircase that leads upstairs. She was taken to Akron General Medical Center where she later passed away. Police say she told them that three men came into the home and fired multiple shots at her and her 28-year-old son.

Officers found the 28-year-old dead in an upstairs bedroom.

The 9-year-old girl was not injured and is staying with relatives.

Police say no motive is available at this time.
