KENT, England – Al Ferguson, of Kent, in the United Kingdom wants everyone to know that dads don’t babysit their children. They parent them!

And after he posted a picture of him wearing a t-shirt saying that, the picture, and the debate it sparked, went viral.

“It’s all about parental equality really,” he explained. “I’m a really big advocate for moms and they’re wonderful but I think dads get a raw deal. I just want us all to be perceived the same.”

The stay-at-home father of three spoke to ABC News, saying that he wants to fight against the negative stereotypes of dads – mainly the one that says if dad is watching the kids, he must be “babysitting” or just doing it “for now.”

Ferguson considers parenting to be an honor. He even has a website dedicated to dads, called The Dad Network.

“The best thing is watching them grow and develop and change and become little people,” he said, “and the best part is that you have influence over that.”
