NAVARRE, Ohio — Fairless Middle School will be closed today and Thursday while cleaning and restoration work is done after a fire.

A lightning strike caused a fire early Tuesday. There was extensive damage to the roof of the building along with water damage inside.

According to the Fairless Local Schools District, a restoration crew is on site cleaning and preparing the building for students and staff.

The damage was concentrated to the eighth grade wing of the building, so eighth graders will be moved into other classrooms at Fairless High School, possibly for the remainder of the year.

All Fairless Middle School students are to report to school on Friday, according to the district. All eighth graders also should report to the middle school to get instructions on their move to the high school.

The high school and elementary school will remain on the normal schedule, according to the district.
