NAVARRE, Ohio -- Crews responded to a fire at Fairless Middle School Tuesday morning.

Brewster Fire Department officials say the fire started on the roof at around 6:30 a.m. They said it was due to a lightning strike.

The fire was limited to the roof decking; there is some water damage to classrooms under the affected area, according to fire officials.

Students who arrived at the school after the incident were taken to the high school, and picked up by their parents there. The band and choir concert scheduled for Tuesday evening at the middle school is canceled.

A photo sent in by a Fox 8 viewer shows smoke coming from the roof of the building.
