A former Stanford dean is sharing what she believes are the skills every 18-year-old should have.
There are eight on Julie Lythcott-Haims’ list, which appears on Quora, and they range from things as simple as knowing how to talk to strangers to being able to take risks.
Her list is as follows:
1.) Must be able to talk to strangers.
2.) Must be able to find their way around.
3.) Must be able to manage assignments, workload and deadlines.
4.) Must be able to contribute to the running of a household.
5.) Must be able to handle interpersonal problems.
6.) Must be able to cope with ups and downs of work and personal life.
7.) Must be able to earn and manage money.
8.) Must be able to take risks.
Haims adds that they must do all things on the list without having to call a parent to ask for help.
