ERIE, PA – Officials have identified the woman who passed away after she was badly beaten by an Ohio man earlier this week.

Kum Miller passed away from her injuries in an Erie, Pennsylvania hospital early Saturday.

Kyle Johnson, the suspect, was officially charged with criminal homicide on Saturday, in addition to other charges including aggravated assault.

There are additional charges pending in Ohio.

Johnson was arrested on Tuesday in Erie. He was wanted in Oakwood Village for abducting his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Brandi Shakir. He also is accused of setting Shakir’s mother’s home on fire after the abduction.

Police say that after abducting Shakir and driving to Erie, Johnson broke into a random home.

He then hid Shakir in the basement and beat up the homeowners.

A neighbor heard screaming and came by, he then shot Johnson as officers arrived on scene.

Johnson is still being held in an Erie County Jail. Shakir returned to be with her family on Thursday.
