SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The owner of a dog that attacked and killed a woman in Shaker Heights is headed to prison.

Leon Morton was sentenced Wednesday to two-and-a-half years behind bars. His mother, Bobby Green, was given two years probation and may not own a dog during that time.

Prosecutors say last July, while picking up her great-granddaughters from their home in Shaker Heights, Annie Williams, 71, was attacked by a pit bull, that belonged to the mother and son. She later died of her injuries.

A neighbor shot and killed the dog.

The victim's family would have liked to see both owners punished more severely. Morton will get credit for 106 days time served since his arrest in July.
