WICKLIFFE – Wickliffe police are searching for the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu after he took police on a short chase through the city late Wednesday night.

Police say they attempted to stop Courtney Thomas Patterson Simmons for a traffic violation near Empire Road when he fled.

Simmons almost stopped when he was caught in a cul-de-sac, but instead he drove through several yards before driving back onto another street and crashing into a tree.

He ran from the area on foot and officers were unable to find him.
