Canton murder suspect arrested after hitting cruiser in overnight chase

CANTON -- The suspect wanted in a Canton murder was arrested after hitting a cruiser during a brief chase in Canton overnight.

Lance Levi Rankin, 36, was wanted for a homicide that happened inside a home in the 1200 block of Worley Avenue NW in Canton.

A search warrant was executed Friday, and that is when police found the victim. The victim's name is being withheld until family is notified.

Canton police say Rankin was involved in a brief pursuit overnight on Interstate 77 in Canton. The Canton Police Department was assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. During the pursuit, Rankin hit a highway patrol cruiser causing considerable damage.

Rankin was treated for minor injuries and taken to the Stark County Jail.

No officers were hurt during the arrest.
