CLEVELAND-– The Lake Erie Monsters signed a one-day contract with 4-year-old Robert Gibson on Friday.

The little boy was invited to play with the team through A Special Wish Foundation Cleveland Chapter.

"It's been incredible. Seeing the smile on his face is probably the most precious and priceless thing I could have. So it's been amazing,” said Robert’s mom, Beth.

Robert has been through a lot. He was born with kidney disease and has undergone 14 surgeries.

"Status quo as of today, but we live every day as every day, so right now he's doing good,” Beth said.

His dad, Chris, said Robert’s always loved the sport and he’s excited to watch him practice with the team.

"Ever since he was about 2 years old, he just started watching it and playing it in the house with sticks and balls. We also have a family friend who is really into hockey and it just carried over from there,” he said.

Robert will be playing with them as they take on the Manitoba Moose. The game starts at 7 p.m.
