CLEVELAND - A mother and her boyfriend have been indicted for the shooting death of a 1-year-old boy back in 2014.

Shanee Robinson and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Ricardo Sims, were both indicted Thursday on one count of involuntary manslaughter, three counts of endangering children, one count of reckless homicide, and one count of receiving stolen property.

One-year-old fatally Braylon Robinson was shot by a 3-year-old relative while they were being babysat.

Robinson, 24, was watching her son Braylon and two other children when she heard a gunshot. Police say she turned around to see her son bleeding and saw the gun near the 3-year-old child.

Braylon was rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The other two children were uninjured and were released to their mother.

After the shooting, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said adults would be held accountable.

“A three year-old can't be held accountable for a tragedy like this,” Williams said. “There have to be adults that either supplied the weapon, that charged the weapons, or knew the weapons were there and didn't do anything to safeguard them, so people will be held accountable for this tragedy.”
