AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Zoo is considering a new Ferris wheel as part of a list of improvements being planned for the facility.

Zoo officials shared some of their plans at a Summit County Council meeting this week.

The plans include a redo of the Tiger Valley exhibit area. That would include new, larger lion and tiger exhibits with the ability to breed and conserve the species.

There would also be a new red panda exhibit to house and possibly breed multiple red pandas.

The plans could also include one to two primate exhibits.

And to generate revenue for the project, the zoo is also considering a Ferris wheel or something similar.

The zoo says an announcement and possible renderings will be made at a later date.
