BRUNSWICK, Ohio -- A four-year-old girl has passed away after a large apartment fire on Beverly Drive in Brunswick Monday night.

Authorities first said the girl was five years old. But according to family members, she turned 4 last month.

Fox 8's Stacey Frey reports that the fire went from the first through the third floors of the apartment building.

The girl was in a basement apartment in the building, investigators said.

Six other victims were taken to the hospital, including  a man who had to jump from a third floor balcony to get away from the flames.

Every unit in the 24-unit building was occupied at the time of the fire, so at least 50 people were displaced. Firefighters say the third and second floors collapsed into the basement of the building.

Firefighters are still on the scene. They are waiting until daylight to conduct a more intensive investigation.

"It's tough, we all have little kids," said assistant fire Chief Rick Barber.

There is no word on how or where the fire started.
