GENEVA TOWNSHIP, OH – A pedestrian was killed Friday after The Ohio State Highway Patrol says he walked into the path of an oncoming car in Geneva Township.

The Patrol tells Fox 8 that Richard Nelson, 56, of Painesville, was crossing US 20 shortly before 8 p.m. when he walked into the path of an oncoming Jeep. He was killed instantly. The Patrol also reports that Nelson was not wearing any reflective  equipment at the time, and that alcohol does appear to have been a factor on his part.

The driver of the Jeep was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
