AKRON, Ohio– An Akron man remains missing after a car went off the road and into the Cuyahoga River early Sunday morning.

La-Ron Harris, 27, was driving a woman home from The Lazy Gator on Weathervane Lane at about 3 a.m. when he drove into the water, Akron police said.

The woman swam to shore and called 911. She told officers Harris made it out of the car, but she didn’t see him on land.

When police arrived, the car was completely submerged. A towing company, with the help of the dive team, removed it on Monday.

The fire department searched the Cuyahoga River for Harris until dark Monday night. He has not been located.

On Tuesday, a group of family and friends went to the site to search for the 27-year-old.
