CANTON, OH - The devastated family of Canton Firefighter Tonya Johnson gathered inside Johnson's Canton home Tuesday night.
The 43-year-old mother of three died Monday after police say she jumped from an SUV and ran through traffic on Route 8.
"I just wanted to make her proud. It makes me so sad because I told her, I would get straight As on my report card and I just want her to look down on me and see me make me it," said Temaria Johnson, her daughter.
Her children have many questions surrounding her death.
"I want to know what happened to my mom. I want to know what happened in that car. I don't know this man," said Trevon Boone, her son.
Police say Johnson had been arguing with her husband over directions when he pulled over and she got out.
They were married less than two weeks.
"From our conversations in this investigation, he had no idea that she was going to run out of the car and run between cars. There was no altercation in the car," said Lt. Rick Edwards, with the Akron Police Department.
"If you ever met my mom, you would know that she would never, ever commit suicide," said Temaria Johson.
"She cared about everybody. She would give you the shirt off her back. She was so giving, so loving, and I'm gonna miss my child. My life will never be the same," said Debbie Massey, her mother.
And her family is left with more questions than answers about the moments leading up to her death and why it happened.
"It just hurts because she was always there for me. And now, when I don't have the answer, I don't have that women that I always go to. And just knowing that bad things can happen to someone so good," said DeJon Newell, son.
