Mike Snyder, chairman of the Port Clinton Area Fourth of July Celebration, said the winner can chose between an AR-15 assault rifle or $1,000 cash. The money raised will go towards the fireworks display.

Snyder said last year’s gun raffle was the Port Clinton Area Fourth July Celebration’s biggest fundraiser.

Raffling a gun is commonplace in the area. Port Clinton police said its department and the sheriff’s office have done it in the past.

The winner must be 18 years of age or older and pass an FBI background check, Snyder said.
